tonight and keep it simple.

saw miike snow tonight at the wiltern in LA they lost power towards the end of their set and had to cut it short... they had a lot of power too jackets that lit up 4 synths electronic drum kits smoke and fog machines crazy light show you get the idea...
it made me think. sometimes...

less is more.

there is so much beauty in both the complex and the simple but 2 nite i am reminded of how beautiful simplicty can be.

Been working on music this week a whole lot and traveling back to NYC during the fall has been a stunning and blissful experience. The animal days are gone. i am overwhelmed with love and support that i have received from new york and wanted to send a smoke signal of gratitude to all those who came to support the show or have shown support.
Am in the studio with my friend and producer musician dan laureano. And i am excited to share this last song ' the animal days are gone. ' i think it is our best collaboration yet. Also getting a kickstarter campaign together in conjuction with the manup.org campaign which seeks to eradicate violence against women through youth empowerment globally. documentaries somehow always tug at the heart strings.
i find myself deep in vulnerability as the truth unfolds and my heart
opens to reality more and more with each frame of honesty showing itself to me.

and just learned that apparently california has the highest rate of recidivism in the penal system of the US of America.
That means 71 % of inmates who are incarcerated do their time and are released RETURN to the system.

i'm pretty much outraged at this whole Israel gaza strip food ship (aide) thing. what angers me is that, the gaza strip is not being given a fair chance to heal from the wounds of war. school are not being rebuilt. aide is being blocked. 80% of people in gaza live below the poverty line.

a friend of mine and I were talking this morning on the phone about it. and I compared it oddly ( and by all means not a perfect comparison ) to the tonya harding nancy kerrigan incident. Its like right when the food is coming in bam ! Israel slams the ship killing people causing drama and keeping nourishment away from the people who need it most. I just adore Queen Rania of Jordan she is an embodiment of the true spirit of Islam. She was tweeting facts about gaza and i retweeted them on my page if you care to have a look see. All very relevant and important to the struggle the fight the push for peace.

so now i guess i do get what M.I.A. was saying about the Lynn Hirschberg interview in the new york times magazine. She was
trying to talk about freedom and the atrocities the Sri Lankan people have suffered when NYT only cared about truffle fries. The truth is they were both doing their jobs and however inappropriate her reaction was to the article i get it i get what maya angry about. But i get what NYT was writing about as well.

what i am saying to people who care including myself in a blogistan (pep talk) is that if you do care, well then it is up to you to keep caring keep spreading the facts the truth the information as it is revealed to you. keep speaking your mind. keep pushing for peace, keep exposing injustice.... though may i suggest that one does it with grace with style with dignity and with panache.
